Yue Du

| Principal Investigator

Yue is an Assistant Professor of Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. He earned his BS degree in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Beijing Normal University and completed his PhD in Kinesiology at University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to joining Texas A&M, he worked as a postdoc and research associate at the Johns Hopkins University. His research focuses on understanding how skills are acquired and how expertise develops through practice. Outside of science, Yue enjoys playing soccer and walking his dog.

Chieh-Wen Kao

| PhD Student

Kevin is a Ph.D. student in the Motor Neuroscience program at Texas A&M University. He earned his master’s degree in Athletics and Coaching Science from National Taiwan Sport University. Before stepping into the lab, Kevin spent about 10 years on the field as a strength and conditioning coach, working alongside physical therapists to help injured athletes find their way back to competition. That hands-on experience of watching bodies learn, break down, and rebuild sparked a deeper question: how does the brain actually make all of this happen? That curiosity brought him to research, where he now studies motor skill learning and habit formation. Outside of the lab, Kevin still gets his reps in — you’ll find him in the baseball batting cage or on the tennis court.

Weixun Wang

| PhD Student with Dr. Yuming Lei

Weixun is a Ph.D. student with Dr. Yuming Lei in Motor Neuroscience at Texas A&M University. He joins our group as a student worker for Summer 2026. His research centers on circuit-level modulation of motor learning using non-invasive brain stimulation techniques such as transcranial ultrasound stimulation (TUS) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). He is particularly interested in how distributed brain systems, including the striatum and hippocampus, dynamically interact to support learning, memory consolidation, and skill acquisition. His long-term goal is to develop targeted neuromodulation strategies that can reshape learning processes and improve neurorehabilitation outcomes.

Lexie Kahn

| Undergraduate Student

Lexie is a part of the Texas A&M Class of 2028, majoring in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise and Sport Science. She grew up participating in many sports, but her sport of choice has been figure skating for the last 11 years! Now she has been coaching all levels of ice skating for six years. When not skating or working on schoolwork, she loves doing anything with her friends, taking a nap, or FaceTime with her dog at home.

Vania Farrukh

| Undergraduate Student

Vania is a member of the Texas A&M Class of 2029, majoring in Kinesiology with a concentration in Basic Exercise Physiology. As a pre-medical student and EMT, she is particularly interested in emergency medicine, trauma care, and human performance. Her background in fencing sparked an interest in motor learning and automaticity, which she hopes to explore further through research. Outside of academics, she enjoys trying new coffee shops, staying active, and exploring with her friends and family!

Emma Dixon

| Undergraduate Student

Emma Mae Dixon is part of the class of 2027 at Texas A&M University earning a Kinesiology degree with a minor in Psychology. She grew up in Boerne, TX and has been playing soccer her entire life. She has participated in soccer both as a player and a coach. She currently plays on the Women’s club team at the University, and has recently joined the Football team staff as a student athletic training manager. In her spare time, she enjoys playing soccer, going to the gym, walking her dog, and spending it with friends and family!

Jun Lee

| Undergraduate Student

Jun Lee is part of the class of 2028 at Texas A&M University, earning a degree in Kinesiology. He grew up in South Korea and moved to the United States during high school. He was the captain of his high school golf team and enjoyed being involved in competition golf. After graduation, his main goal is to attend medical school and pursue a career in medicine. In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, going to the gym, playing badminton, and spending time with friends and family.

Kaylee Romano

| Undergraduate Student

I am Kaylee Romano, Class of 2028 at Texas A&M University earning a degree in Kinesiology with a minor is psychology. I grew up in Devine, Texas and played multiple sports throughout middle and high school. I work for the Athletic Facilities and Operations at TAMU. I love to read, play golf, try new coffee shops, and spend time with family and friends!

Dhrumi Shah

| Undergraduate Student

Dhrumi Shah is a biomedical engineering major in the Class of 2029 from Houston, Texas! She is a part of the E2EnMed (Engineering to Engineering Medicine) Program at Texas A&M, where after her undergraduate degree, she will earn her M.D. and Master of Engineering. Dhrumi is passionate about increasing accessibility within STEM, and is an officer in SWE (Society of Women Engineers). In her free time, she loves to crochet, craft, and do karaoke!
